NOVA Memorial Site

“Your light will continue to shine bright and your joyous laughter will forever be remembered”

KKL-JNF Memorial Grove

The Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) has been a central partner in the establishment, development and management of the memorial site at the Re’im parking lot, and has been accompanying it since its inception and through the current time. It has participated through the development of the infrastructure, the commemoration activities on the Dance Floor and in the Memorial Grove, and in the ongoing maintenance and the daily presence of a professional team at the site.

This activity takes place in close cooperation with myself as the artist, and with the bereaved families, and reflects sensitivity, responsibility and a deep commitment to the preservation of the memory and of the stories of those who were murdered.

“O earth, do not cover my blood, and let my cry find no resting place”
Job 16:18

In anticipation of the first anniversary of the massacre, KKL-JNF, together with the bereaved families, worked to adapt the site for the thousands of visitors who come to see it, while incorporating the personal commemorations that had already been placed in the area. As part of the work, a system of paths and a large parking lot were erected, uniform signage was installed, and drinking water stations, toilets and private areas for the benefit of the families and the general public were added. On Tu B’Shvat 5784 (2024), the “Re’im Grove”, in memory of those who were murdered, was planted adjacent to the site.

All along the way, there have been men and women of the KKL-JNF who participated in the establishment and development of the site, and who worked with great dedication, sensitivity and commitment to the site and to the bereaved families. They include:

Ifat Ovadia-Luski – Chairman of the KKL-JNF during the establishment of the site

Eyal Ostrinsky – Chairman of the KKL-JNF

Yaron Ohayon – Director of the Land Development Administration

Yaniv Maimon – Director of the Southern Region

Itzhak Lugasi – Site Manager in the field

Others who have worked with them are the members of the management, planning and execution teams of the KKL-JNF Southern Region, who accompany the development of the site and its ongoing activities. The daily activities in the field are led by Itzhak Lugasi, together with a permanent and dedicated team of employees.
